Wrapping up Spartan baseball for October

I am beyond impressed at how far these boys progressed in just 4 weeks.  We were really proud of Austin and he was telling me as he went to bed that last night how sad he was that it was over.

The car seat is gone…for good!

I was holding off until Reese turned 5, but she meets the age, height and weight requirements, a family member could make use of the car seats, and for us…we just decided it was time.

For the first time in almost 10 years, our cars are free of car seats and this girl was so excited to be in her big girl booster seat.

A little bitter…a little sweet.

Happy Halloween 2014

Love Tony Romo and his cheerleaders!

(It was a mad dash to get everyone ready and I tried to catch a few picture as quickly as I could before Austin took off with the big boys to trick r treat.)

We ended the night with a fire pit, friends and family…so fun!

2014 Carving Pumpkins

Jeff surprised the kids the night before Halloween with pumpkins to carve.  I was bummed to miss it since I was gone for work, but he is such a great dad, these kids don’t miss out on a thing.

I think they loved getting gooey and he did a great job carving the silly face for Reese and the one tooth pumpkin for Ella.  Austin had no preference, I think he took off to watch college football once the carving began.

Way late…Reese, Ella & Austin’s annual check-ups in 2014–ages 4,6, and 9

I am about 6 months late, but wanted to make sure I still got it down.

We went for annual growth check-ups in April and May.  6 months later, Reese still remembers that she got her 4 year shots and then we left out of town for Jeff’s birthday and went to Lost Pines (so much fun, can’t wait to go back)

Reese at 4 years: 34.5lbs (42% percentile), 42” tall (85% percentile)

Ella at 6 years: 45lbs (49% percentile), 46” tall (60% percentile)

Austin at 9 years: 65lbs (55% percentile), 52” tall (38% percentile)

So thankful for 3 healthy kids!

The start of select ball

Austin had been solely playing baseball with the YMCA for years and I knew it was time for a change, but had been pretty resistant to select ball because I have heard it is such a commitment in time and money.   Jeff and the other two coaches for their team were approached by another coach about joining their team just for the month of October for a month long tournament.
I was pretty concerned because it turned out they were playing in 12U, which is 3 years older than Austin, but there was a variety of ages of boys on the team and this is what was available for this month.

So, went for it…the start of 5 days a week of baseball…plus Ella’s soccer and gymnastics…and oh yeah, throw my travel in there, so Jeff was doing a ton by himself.

The first game was rough, 3 hours of ball, out of town, way out of our league…but these boys had a blast!
Austin, Scott and Hayden have played together for 5 years and I was so happy at how hard they tired and how much fun they had!

Ball in San Marcos meant a Bucees stop on the way!

A little goalie action

Ella begged her coach for a shot at goalie, she had fun, but her speed makes her a great fit on the field.

Sweet girl!

ROC 5K

My friend Kathryn thought it would be fun for us to do this crazy 5K…think the show WIPEOUT.

The race was just outside of Austin and both kids had games, so I didn’t think they were going to be able to make it.  Jeff was so sweet and surprised me by coming up for as long as they could.  The kids LOVED the bubble section.

It was a ton of fun and I only really wiped out once.
