Jeff’s 1st Half Marathon

On Sunday, February 17, 2013, Jeff ran his first half marathon at the Austin Half Marathon race.

He started training months ago and was more than ready and we are so proud of him!  Our wonderful friends joined us for the weekend to cheer him on.

We hit Hula Hut on Saturday afternoon, the day before the race, and then the kids all got to swim together at the indoor pool that night.  After the race we hit Shady Grove.  Beautiful weather, great friends, and a celebratory drink!

I have no desire to ever run a half, much less a full marathon.  But, I am so proud of Jeff for his dedication.  He sometimes has to go late at night or very early in the mornings, even on the weekends, to get his training in.  He now has a sprint tri-athalon on  his mind and a full marathon planned for later in the year.

We love you baby!

Valentine’s Day - 2013

We don’t need a dedicated day to tell each other how much we love one another, but it is always fun to have an excuse to have a little celebration.

First at school with the girls for their Valentine’s breakfast.

Then I was able to sneak away from work for a short time and join Austin for lunch and part of his party at school.

I love these four people more than words could ever convey and feel so blessed to have them close and be able to tell them and try to  show them every day!  Happy Valentine’s Day!

America’s Funniest Home Videos

The weekend of MLK day was a little long for us at the Madrid house.  The kids all got a bit grumpy as did Jeff and I.  A wonderful moment came on Saturday night, Jeff decided to go old school and turn on American’s Funniest Home videos on Netflix.  The kids thought it was the funniest thing and ever since, Reese keeps asking for the funny show.

This is our life a lot times these days,  a little fuzzy, a scrape here and there (Austin’s knee, Reese’s face),  but always full of laughter.

Hello 35!

Last weekend marked my 35th birthday, and lucky me, it even fell on a Saturday.  It was a very busy, but fabulous birthday, my favorite yet!
It started the night before with the girls and daddy making me a delicious cake.  I love how little and silly they still are.

The next morning, Austin made me a birthday breakfast (with a little help from Jeff).  It was so yummy and the sweetest part was that it was all his idea.  He was so worried that he would forget to get up and make the breakfast that he set his alarm.

Next up was Ella’s gymnastics performance, one of my favorite birthday presents!  I thought she would love gymnastics, yep, I was wrong.  She really didn’t want to go and was so  happy when it was over.  As a matter of fact, as I am typing this, she was wanting to just look at the pictures, got frustrated and told me “I am over it” and then walked away.  I am going to be in trouble during her teenager years!

We then had a yummy lunch over at Grandma Chris’ house with all of Jeff’s family.   I might have even gotten to doze off for a few minutes at some point.  We go to eat the cake that the girls made, yummy!

My parents gave me the wonderful present of watching the kids that night so we could celebrate with friends.  We partied like we were all 25 and had the best time!  It is hard to believe that this is the 18th birthday I have celebrated with Jeff.  I love him more every year and am so lucky to have him to share every year with.

I am also unbelievably lucky to have such amazing people who are not only friends, but a support system.  If I need anything at all, I know they are there for not only me, but all of my family.

I had somewhat recovered by Sunday night and we finished the celebration at my parent’s house.  The kids got to meet their cousin, Mason, for the first time.

They may be silly and sometimes a little grumpy, but they gave me the best birthday ever.  Thank you Jeff, Austin, Ella and Reese, I love you!!!
