Hilton Head–Lawton Stables, Harbor Town Lighthouse and the Salty Dog

A big part of our Hilton Head tradition is going to Lawton Stables and having the kids ride the ponies.
It began 5 years ago when Austin was three and he rode Romeo for the first time.  This sweet three year old has grown into a sweet 8 year old who had outgrown the ponies.  We scheduled an hour long trail ride for him on a real horse the next day.

This year it was Ella and Reese and they both loved it.  Reese ended up loving it even more than Ella.  I was very surprised because last August, when we were at Lost Pines, neither would go near a pony.  This year was no problem!
Reese rode Cookie the first day.

Ella rode Popsicle.

After the pony rides, we checked out the other farm animals.  This one was cock-a-doodle-doodling for us.

Then we went to check out Harley, the beautiful Clydesdale.  He was a hungry horse (haha) and did not want to let any of his friends in on the snacks.

This shot of Ella gives me a glimpse into her years to come and how beautiful she will be.

Don’t they look so happy!

She loved pushing the girls, but was known to lose interest and abandon them mid-walkSmile

Our sweet family friend, Sally, surprised Chris and joined us for a few days on our trip.  We were so happy to have her there and share all of our favorite Hilton Head activities with her. The entire group climbed up to the top of the lighthouse!  (this is the best you get when you try to get a group shotSmile)
