Looking back at Austin and Ella turning 1

I would never thought I would actually have stuck with the blog, but am so glad I have.  And so bummed, that I don’t have it from when Austin and Ella were born.  I actually have to thank Megan Brown and sleepless nights for actually getting me started on it.  I was up with Reese when she was just a few weeks old and still had her days and nights confused.  She wasn’t crying, just wanted to be awake.  So, I was holding her and browsing facebook when I stumbled upon Megan’s blog.  It seemed like such a great way to document everything, and much easier to type something than try to write it all down.

So, I have baby books for Austin and Ella, but also wanted to take a peek back at their 1st birthdays as well.

Reese Turns 1!

Friday, March 4, 2011 – my sweet Reesie turned 1 year old.  I had debated picking her up early from school, but she has amazingly been taking 2.5+ hour naps in her new class, on a mat.  I am not sure what magic they do to make this happen, but I decided not to test it and keep her day as normal.

Although we were having her party the next day we had a mini-celebration dinner at Willie’s with Grandma Chris.  All three kids actually did really well, and for the first time I did not bring a jar of baby food for Reese to eat.  She had pieces of cheese, bits of meat, yogurt, applesauce and her new favorite – macaroni and cheese.  The girl chowed down!IMG_5665

It was then back home for a quick birthday cupcake and present.  It took her a minute to warm up to the cupcake, but decided she liked it.

I wanted a picture of all 5 of us.  A hallmark moment it was not.  It was the end of a busy and long week as you can see.  (And also indicative of their three personalities. Austin is more sensitive, Ella outspoken, and Reese fairly mellow)

Present time from mommy and daddy.  Reese had fallen in love with Ella’s chair, so we got her very own.  She was so happy!

Bath for Three

Not sure why, except I think it sounded like fun.  What was bath for one, became bath for three the other night.  Water went everywhere, but they had fun!

A year Ago Today

Our family became complete a year ago today.  I was not yet doing the blog then, and there are no words to explain the joy March 4, 2010 has brought us.  As cliché as it is, I cannot believe how quickly the year has gone by!
Here we were before it all got started and she arrived at 11:45am.

Nathan and Susana’s Wedding

On Saturday, February 26, 2011, my brother Nathan and his beautiful bride got married.  Austin was the ring bearer and Ella was a flower girl.  I was a little worried as she didn’t do so well last year (Dec 2009) at Aunt Leslie and Uncle Joel’s wedding.  What a difference a year makes!  Ella not only threw out the flower petals, but she actually stopped to pose for pictures when the photographer asked.

Which of course makes me want to look back at our last wedding experience.

So back to the wedding, Austin and Ella did great.  Reese got fussy during the ceremony so I rushed her out, but was able to look through and see everything.

Sarah, My best friend of 25 years (oh my goodness, that is a long time!!!), and her husband came and celebrated with all of us.  Although we go back much further, here we are in 1993 and today.

Our wonderful family took the kids home so Jeff and I could fully enjoy the reception.

There were lots of items handed out in the night, including these fantastic hats.

Fun outside in February

Only in Texas can we be 20 degrees one week and 80 degrees the next.  I think the cold has passed and we are now on to spring.  We took advantage this past week before dinner to play outside.
It was the first time Austin and Ella played with the neighbors.  I have memories as a little girl, playing for hours with my neighbors.  Going back and forth between houses and having a ball.  Three sweet little girls live behind us, one of whom is in kinder with Austin.  They just got a trampoline, so we put the ladders up and let the kids go back and forth between yards to play.  (Great for now, not sure what we will do in 10 years:))
They were very sweet and made sure to include Ella.  She swung like a big girl.2-23-11, ella in the big girl swing
Reese has discovered Ella’s car and is in love.  The black bow was my attempt at getting her used to it for the upcoming wedding.  It did not work, she pulled that thing off every chance she got.  It was pretty cute to see the two girls pile in the car together.
