Welfare Cafe

It was far, it was hot, and it was a bad place to take kids.  But, the company was still good and we learned our lesson-  Restrict our dining with as a family to Bigz or Willie’sSmile

Sometimes you just need a little one-on-one time

This was mid-July and Ella and I both needed a little time with just the two of us.

I picked her up early, got her favorite  - a bean and cheese taco, and then we went to get pedicures.  It made both of our days!

Gymnastics

Ella started gymnastics for the first time in July.  It took her a little while to warm up to the first class, but by the 2nd one, she just ran in and went for it.  She has become a hand stand and cartwheeling queen.
This was her first classSmile

We started right before the Olympics so she then loved watching the gymnasts on TV.  She currently has a favorite song called Home, that she calls the gymnastics song because they played it on TV during the gymnastics promos.
She just finished the first session and I signed her up for the fall in the big gym. She now says she doesn’t want to do it anymore. Uggh! We will try the first few classes and see if she changes her mind.

Friends and summer rain

Austin’s friend Drew shares Grandma Chris’ birthday, so he left her celebration a little early so he could enjoy Drew’s party as well.

Austin named him Simmy (I guess short for Homer Simpson) and he made it to the Lost Pines resort but then got lost, poor guy was bummed.

We then got a summer shower that night.

Saturday night dinner in the tree house

This was a mid-summer’s night in July and the kids decided they wanted their dinner in the tree house.

Why life has been crazy and I have been slacking on posting

In the spring I started getting the bug to move.  Crazy since we just refinanced to a 15 year mortgage last fall and I thought we were staying put.  But, there are some things that kept bugging us about the house and we decided life is too short to stay somewhere you don’t truly love.  So after getting serious about looking Jeff told me it was time to poop or get off the pot (he used different wordsSmile  So as of Aug 4, this bad boy went on the market.  We missed the summer rush and aren’t having that great of luck, but it sure is keeping us on our toes trying to keep it clean with three kids.
Will see what happens!

Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop

We were so happy when Jeff’s mom felt like she was up for a weekend getaway.  I had heard good things about this resort from other friends with kids and it did not disappoint!

We loved almost everything about it and it was definitely geared towards kids.  We were there for three nights, but still weren’t able to get to everything.

We tried a pony ride, but Austin was the only one who wanted to get on, and off he goes on his ride.

After some cajoling, she did agree to pet the pony.

Maybe she will get on, nope she won’t.  But she was giggles once he was gone.  She continued to tell us the rest of the trip how she didn’t want to get on the horse.

Ella was terrified as well and this was as close as she got.

Austin got a good 15 minute ride in and came back happy.

The girls did love the bikes they had available to ride.

But one of their favorite parts (aside from the pool) was the playground and the big grassy area where Ella could show us her gymnastics

This pretend pony was in the lobby and they were all happy to hop on him.

Reese was a little under the weather and for some reason insisted on wearing her crocs every time she went to sleep, the entire nap or night.

The girls made jewelry out of candy while Austin got one on one time with grandma at the pool.

After dinner we made our way to s’mores, my FAVORITE desert EVER!

We all got great snuggles with Baby Abby and Baby Lily.  Reese proclaimed that Lily was her baby and Abby was Ella’s baby.  How convenient of Leslie and Joel to have two babies so my girls wouldn’t have to share.

I clearly did not do a great job of capturing any of the grown-ups on this trip, but as you can see, I did manage one goofy family picture.

Thank you Grandma Chris, we had the best time!!
